Human Nature in master of the FliesLord of the Flies, by William Golding, is a captivatingnarrative in which the reader lives by means of the trials andtribulations of a society set up and run by a root word ofmarooned British teens. Golding believes that the basicnature of the individual is evil. The assemblage ultimately provesthis thesis by their actions. The evils of the individual areshown through the actions of the groups hunter Jack, themurders of two members of the society, Simon and Piggy, theattempted murder of the groups attraction Ralph, and the ultimatedestruction of the island.Jack has a natural thirstiness to be number one, he was notsatisfied with being the leader of the hunters, and thisultimately caused many of the conflicts in the novel. Jack asa fourth-year member of the group felt that he had every right tobe the leader and in this he caused the downfall of thesociety.
